FRT was founded in 2025 as an independent, non-profit research organization, with its secretariat in Bangladesh and a mandate across South Asia and internationally. It works in five research domains at once, and it belongs to no university, agency or company.

Why FRT exists
A great deal of good research begins in this region and stops early. Ability is rarely the reason. What is usually missing is the ordinary infrastructure that turns an idea into a submitted paper: someone who will read a draft honestly, a first venue that accepts a poster from an undergraduate, a working knowledge of what a methods section must contain, a co-author in another discipline who is free to say yes.
Universities supply some of this, to some of their students. What was missing was a body that belonged to none of them and was therefore open to all of them. Somewhere a physicist, an economist and a clinician could be members of the same organization instead of visitors to each other's departments.
That is what FRT was set up to be. It holds no affiliation with any university, government body, commercial entity, political party or ideological movement, and it does not intend to acquire one. Independence is the point, and it is easier to keep than to recover.

What FRT holds itself to
Each commitment below is one a member can hold FRT to. If the organization falls short of one, say so — the secretariat's address is on the contact page, and this is exactly what it is for.
- Academic integrity
- Sources are cited, data is real, and authorship reflects contribution rather than seniority.
- Innovation
- New methods are welcome, including the ones that fail, provided the failure is reported rather than quietly dropped.
- Excellence
- Feedback is specific enough to act on. Writing it that way takes longer, and it is still the standard.
- Collaboration
- Co-authorship across institutions and disciplines is treated as ordinary. It requires no special permission and no apology.
- Inclusivity
- Taking part does not depend on nationality, gender, religion, or which institution issued your ID card.
- Transparency
- Criteria for selection, review and awards are published before they are applied, not explained afterwards.
- Sustainability
- Programs are designed so that the same volunteer capacity can run them a second time. A program nobody can repeat was never really a program.
- Social responsibility
- Research questions are chosen with attention to who benefits from the answer, and who is affected if it is wrong.
- Continuous learning
- Everyone in the organization, including its most senior members, is expected to still be learning method.
- Global collaboration
- The secretariat is in Bangladesh. The network reaches well beyond it, and the working languages reflect that.

How FRT is run
FRT is governed by an elected Executive Committee, guided by an Advisory Board of senior academics and industry experts, and supported by a Secretariat that handles day-to-day operations.
Languages
FRT works in Bengali and English. This site is published in English; a Bengali edition is planned.
